The Ceramic Society of Japan (CerSJ), founded in 1891, is Japan’s leading comprehensive association for the ceramics field, uniting both industry and academia. For over a century, it has supported the advancement of ceramic science, technology and industrial innovation. Ceramics have become essential to modern life, with advanced ceramics playing a central role in nanotechnology. CerSJ’s diverse membership spans chemistry, mineralogy, physics, electronics, engineering, medicine and the arts, alongside major corporate players in Japan’s ceramic industry. The Society provides learning opportunities, fosters research exchange and awards achievements. As of March 2023, it has 3,011 individual members, 1,165 students and 214 corporate members.
